Jane Brunner for City Council

Serving Our Neighborhoods

North Oakland is divided into many neighborhoods.  My office and I went to each of these neighborhoods and asked them to establish their priorities.  Then we have worked together to implement these priorities.

Along with many other successful projects, this approach has produced:

  • A new fire station, guard rails, and establishment of a fire assessment district in the Hills.

  • Sidewalk repair, tree planting and trimming, benches, streetscaping, and support for the Frog Park, Linden Park, a new park by Carter Middle School, and the Field of Dreams baseball field in Rockridge/Temescal.

  • Substantial progress on the MacArthur BART Transit Village, repavement of West Street, a Shattuck avenue entrance to Bushrod Park, cameras for businesses, a median strip, and a refurbished recreation center in the Flatlands.

My City Council office works hard on providing excellent constituent services.  We carefully track every constituent case that comes to us.  We ask residents to call the relevant City Department once and then, if they don’t get the service they need, to call our office and we will go to bat for them.

We know how important the solution of each specific problem is. We have helped North Oakland residents in relation to fixing pot holes, vegetation management, garbage collection problems, speed bump installation, along with many other issues and we have a wall filled with thank-yous
